Paul rang Kelli's doorbell, waited a moment, then knocked loudly on the wooden front door. He listened intently for any sound coming from inside the apartment but there was none. He pulled his keyring from is jacket pocket and flipped through his assortment of keys, looking for the key Kelli had given him when she first moved in to this apartment.

Nick was more than worried about Kelli. There was no logical explanation for her not answering her phone. He grabbed his jacket and car keys and headed to his car and Kelli's apartment. On the, way he used his cell phone to call Holly to see if his sister knew anything about Kelli's whereabouts.
Holly's answering machine picked up and Nick left a terse message asking Holly to call him asap and did she know where Kelli was.
It took him less than ten minutes to reach Kelli's apartment.
